Free LLC & Fee Reimbursement
Step by step guide to starting your LLC free for Texas Veterans.

Criteria…
- Must be owned by Veteran (can be more than one Veteran)
- Business entity must be formed between Jan. 1, 2022 – December 31, 2025
- Must be honorably discharged. If you need your records visit: https://www.archives.gov/veterans/military-service-records.
Knowing and having proof of your service is important. Documents such as DD-214 or Benefits Verification will be needed to receive fee waver.
The following steps are done prior to any payment, but can be done after payment has been made to receive reimbursement.
Steps…
- Register/Sign in at https://www.sos.state.tx.us/corp/sosda/index.shtmlh
- Visit: https://www.tvc.texas.gov/entrepreneurs/ to request unique ID which will be used by SOSDirect to keep track of your Veteran owned business. It can take up to 30 days for this process to be complete. You will need the ID for the next step.
- Download and fill out form PDF 05-904 (Certification of New Veteran Owned Business).
- Submit the following documents to Texas Secretary of State(SOS): Veterans Verification Letter from Veterans Commission, Form 05-904, SOS business formation document.
You may submit these documents to the SOS:
- Electronically: https://direct.sos.state.tx.us/acct/acct-login.asp (use client payment option – NOT CREDIT CARD)
- By USPS – Mail to the Secretary of State Office P.O. BOX 13697 Austin, TX 78711-3697
- By Fax: (512)463-5709.
Filing fees cannot be waived if you submit through SOSDirect.
The whole process can take roughly 30 – 45 days, but it saves $300 in startup cost. Veterans have benefits and should be able to access these types of resources.
